This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

King of Batons - Old English TarotKing of Batons/Wands
An influential and independent person may be in a position to help you in some way.  This person could be your father, a boss, a mentor, an advisor, or someone who can help you get your foot into the door of opportunity for a job or career.  He can make things happen for you. If not an actual person, this card can refer to a group or an institution that may help you this week.

You are in a position of strength with the appearance of the King of Batons.  A situation will likely go favorably for you.  This energy is about getting results, reaching goals, and fulfilling ambitions.

You could be inspired by a man like this King who will push you to excel and use your full potential.  He is one to encourage and support your dreams, whatever those may be.  He is a mature, strong, and generous man who will give you sound advice.

The strong-willed and positive King of Batons energy indicates you are in control of your own desires.  You are called upon to be decisive and take action on something that is important to you and that you would like to manifest.  This is the energy that allows you to take a leadership role . . . to be in control of yourself, your actions and decisions, and to also be a guiding force for anyone else under your influence that might need the kind of inspiration that you are capable of providing.

At this time, you may also find it a little easier to persuade others to your way of thinking — so take advantage of this opportunity if you need someone to see and appreciate your point of view on a matter.

With this card appearing, you are encouraged to stretch your creative capacity and re-evaluate your personal potential.  There is a time of dreaming about goals, and there is a time to get busy in order to achieve them.  This King indicates it’s time to get busy . . . because you can do or be anything you want.

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

Elemental Centaur - Page of Pentacles - Merry Day TarotElemental Centaur (Page of Pentacles)
It’s a great week to be a student again!  This doesn’t imply you must take up a formal study, for there are many ways in which we can learn about new things.  Focus on the things that interest you and that you have a desire to learn more about.  Gather up the same kind of excitement you felt as a child when you were learning new things of interest.

It may be time to take a risk in some area of your life in order to create a new and desirable beginning.  Pay attention to the details in order to assess your personal situation.  If you are one who always likes to “play it safe,” it’s okay not to be much of a gambler in life.  However, do realize that just about all we do in life has some level of risk attached to it.  It’s just that we don’t think about those risks as being the “risks” that they are.

For example, you get up in the morning, and you decide that you’ll go to work – because you are expected to show up.  Perhaps you have a half hour commute to arrive at your work destination.  Did you realize that the choice to show up for work involves a risk?  There is the risk of a highway accident, and although such risk is minimal, it’s still there nevertheless.  Yet we don’t always see how some kind of risk is attached to most of the decisions we make in life.

When you take a good risk in life, you will have tried and put for the effort – which counts for a lot!  When the outcome turns out to be a “winning” one for you, then you see how the risk was worth it in gaining the desired outcome.  For the work example above, the risk you take to go to work each day gets you a paycheck and gets some bills paid and food put on the table.

This Elemental Centaur (known as the Page of Pentacles in traditional Tarot) is asking you to go the extra mile this week. Persevere through both the good times and the bad.  This level of determination may show you that you have more strength under pressure than you knew you had!  It all relates to how you choose to approach a situation.

You may have an opportunity this week to “learn by doing.”  This will often involve some trial and error, so don’t be afraid of making mistakes during this learning phase, because it’s a part of the process.  Be committed to the tasks you take on, be willing to work hard, pay attention to the details, and take responsible risks as needed.  By doing so, you may find some hidden talents or interests within yourself . . . or you’ll at least discover the “drive” within your life that pushes you forward when you need that extra boost of self-motivation.  That ambition can help propel you toward the achievement of your ideas and goals.  You do have the ability to find new strengths within yourself, even while under pressure.

This can be a week of important self-discoveries.  You may find yourself starting something new this week – whether it’s a new job, a new project, a new relationship, or something else that is “new” in your world.  This can naturally create both anxiety and excitement at the same time.  The Elemental Centaur would encourage you to jump in and learn as you go.  Don’t let doubt or uncertainty rob you of the results you are striving to attain.

And don’t forget how important your instinctive abilities and common sense will be this week.  Use those inner guides as you take aim for what you wish to pursue in this week.

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

Mother - Master TarotMother
The Mother of the Master Tarot corresponds to our traditional Tarot Empress.  This week, the theme is all about unconditional love.  Here we see Mother Mary who represents those who have the capacity to love beyond themselves, who care deeply, nourish, and surrender.  We meet the Mother in us when we unconditionally give and love.

Look for the situations and people in your life this week who awaken this selfless love within you.  Perhaps it will be a child – either yours or someone else’s.  Perhaps it is an elder parent who now requires your care.  It might be a friend, or it may even be a perfect stranger who needs someone to care and show them warmth and compassion.

Whatever the occasion or situation, it is our capacity for mothering (loving and nurturing, whether you are male or female) that is put to the test this week.  You may be called upon to be a caregiver in some capacity – an opportunity to render nurturing, guidance, and unconditional love to someone who needs that in his or her life.  And if you find yourself to be the one who feels abandoned by the world and needs this kind of loving support from others, the Mother says to ask, and it shall be given.  Sometimes we receive exactly what we need in ways that we could not have expected or anticipated.

Unconditional love is a source of strength that everyone needs.  It is the pure confidence of knowing deep within yourself that you are accepted, cherished, valued . . . and that you are enough — strong enough, smart enough, good enough, generous enough, and impressive enough to be loved . . . just for being yourself.

As a mother, you are teacher, guide, counselor, nurse, therapist, cook, laundress, housekeeper, taxi cab driver . . . and so very much more!  But it’s pretty great to be needed, and it takes a special person to fill the role of mother :-)   The Mother reminds you today how very important you are to someone . . . . and/or that someone is very important to you!

The opportunities of this week ask you to consider the judgmentalism that may permeate your world at times . . . much more obviously than love does.  You judge others.  They judge you.  We all judge ourselves as well.  And while this is happening, the concept of love and simple acceptance gets trampled beneath all the “shoulda, woulda, oughta’s” and the “have-to’s” that make up life.

For at least this week, the Mother asks us to try not to criticize anyone, to not think badly of anyone or be angry with people.  And of course . . . also apply this advice to yourself, too!!  Through the week, try to let go of expectations that might normally arise within you.  Doing this could be harder than it sounds, but if someone irritates you or gets on your last nerve . . . try to just let it go and shrug it off.  Letting go doesn’t mean your feelings are unimportant or discounted; it simply means that by hanging on to the annoyances, you are hurting yourself more than the wrongdoer hurts you.

Realize that this is definitely not an invitation to become a doormat.  Part of loving yourself is the willingness to protect yourself from mistreatment, and to not feel guilty for using your strength when necessary.  But see if a smile, an extra measure of tolerance, or the simple act of kindness and gentleness makes a difference in your life as you go through the week :-)

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

3 of Cups - Hanson Roberts TarotThree of Cups
The 3 of Cups is a lovely card to represent our week.  It gives us hope, even on the darker days, to know that we will have reasons again to enjoy life and celebrate – even if that mood isn’t there in this moment.

Look to friendship and family this week.  Relish in the comfort of being surrounding by loving and supportive people in your life who are there for you emotionally.  Look to your true friends who are always there for you, ready and willing to be at your side like family.

Focus on the growth of relationships this week – and this includes all types of relationships in your life.  The 3 of Cups is a reminder that we are meant to enjoy life.  We are meant to celebrate life itself.

I know that life isn’t always good to us.  Yes, there can be very bad things that happen in this world – and to us, too.  But if that’s all we focus on, we are missing out on so much of the goodness that is also there.  We shouldn’t wait for “this” or “that” to happen before we believe we can be happy.  Happiness is not truly dependent on “this or that” to occur.  Certainly there are things in life that make it a whole lot easier to feel happy in comparison to when shit hits the fan and makes it harder to feel happy within ourselves.

But regardless, happiness is a choice no matter what.  The 3 of Cups asks you to embrace a happy mood this week.  Be positive.  Look to others for the emotional support you need in order to get there if you are having trouble doing it on your own.

The best pleasure is shared pleasure, and this card encourages you to find a reason to celebrate with someone this week – whether it’s with a significant other, your friends, or relatives.  If you can’t find any reason at all to celebrate, then you are losing sight of blessings that do exist around you.  So take a closer look, and see that you can at least celebrate the people in your life who love you and whom you love in return!

If you get an invitation this week, but you can’t decide if you want to go . . . the 3 of Cups urges you to say YES and accept that invitation.  Don’t spend too much time alone this week.  Be among friends and/or family.  Do something fun just for the pure pleasure of it.  Life may hold many responsibilities and commitments, but it’s supposed to be fun, too!

With such a positive theme from the Three of Cups, it’s okay (and recommended!) to put aside your troubles for a bit.  You can tend to them after you’ve given yourself, family, and friends the attention that each of you need.  Take a deep breath  . . . and relax!  You’ve worked hard, you’ve dealt with issues that needed to be handled, and you have earned the right to have a little fun and time for something that brings you pleasure!  Life can be really good this week – but you’ve got to decide for yourself that it can be.

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

Virgo - Astro TarotVirgo (from Astro-Tarot)
The message for us this week comes from a neat and orderly Virgo mindset.  Mary, Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow?  Virgo reminds us this week to be practical, organized, and to be of service to others.

Being practical and organized might seem a bit ho hum and boring, but these skills will help you be more accurate with whatever you are doing.

It’s a great week to be of service to others, especially in the work place.  Lend a helping hand wherever you can.  If your job involves helping others, then things should go very well.

Gardening activities can go very well this week – but if you’re in the colder zones like I am right now, you may fare best to tend to your flowers and plants in a green house or take care of them in your warm and cozy home.

Communications are on the up and up this week, and this also helps you to express your thoughts, feelings, and ideas into words.

Feeling a little crafty and creative!  If so, great!  This is a favorable time to work on creative projects.  Your best ideas can come forward and be expressed.

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

4 of Wands - Londa TarotFour of Wands
The Four of Wands foretells of a happy week with good fortune, fulfillment, and even perhaps a celebration.  Now, this doesn’t mean that every single moment of every day this week will feel this nice . . . but as a whole, some nice things can come from our experiences during the week.

Take a look at your accomplishments so far.  Look at what you have to be satisfied and pleased with.  While you may have more to go before reaching completion of an important project or endeavor, the Four of Wands gives us reason to be pleased with our accomplishments to date.

Life itself is a gift which holds both joys and challenges.  Even the small pleasures and triumphs you encounter deserve their special notice — at least as much recognition as you would give to the petty hassles and pet peeves which are annoying to you.

Life is a gift, filled each day with miracles and wonders.  Look around and see all the blessings that have been bestowed upon you.  It will help you appreciate all the miracles in your life — both the large and the small ones . . . all of them are important!  If you take time to notice them, you not only increase the quality and enjoyment of your life, you also greatly increase the energy you use to create more of the same kinds of experiences in the future.

Count your blessings this week.  Look around you.  Look inside of you.  Look at the good things.  If you feel you don’t have a single blessing to be thankful for at this time, then take an honest look at all the things you are taking for granted!  Would you miss a lot of the people or things in your life if they didn’t exist anymore?  Now take a look at the things in your life which are problems to you.  If they disappeared, would you be grateful for that?  Look closely at the problems.  See what you can do to minimize them or to at least cope with them more easily.  See what you can accomplish in the area of problem resolution right now . . . so that soon, you’ll have something new to celebrate.

With the Four of Wands, you have reached a place of peace, harvest, prosperity, and reliable foundations in some area of your life.  You may have reached an important milestone in your personal journey, and this is a time to pause and enjoy the results, if not an actual celebration of your arrival and completion.  You may either be finishing something important that is proving to be successful with this energy, or there is evidence that you are well on your way, even if additional work is required to cross the finish line.  The end zone is certainly in sight, and you can see how your efforts are paying off.  This energy represents a time of happiness, reward, enjoyment, fruition, comfort, productivity . . . and even “happy endings.”

Wishing you a fabulous Four of Wands week!

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

Ace of Broomsticks - Witchy TarotAce of Broomsticks (Swords)
Here we are in another brand new week, and for this week, I’ve chosen the Witchy Tarot in the spirit of Halloween fun – as that is just around the corner.  This deck does not really follow the traditions of RWS, so it’s a deck to get creative with.  I think it’s important to read the imagery of a deck perhaps even more so than the meaning we traditionally associate with a card.

In looking at the Ace of Broomsticks, the poor rabbit ducks with a certainty that he’s going to be the witch’s lunch.  But the witch holds an apple in front of her – along with that knife that looks poised and ready to carve.  I don’t think the rabbit is going to be her lunch at all.  He’ll be spared.

The lesson of the rabbit is that sometimes we fear things that are not going to happen.  Appearances on the surface may lead us to believe that we have reason to fear, when perhaps there is no reason at all.  After all, rabbits are fast.  He has plenty of time to hop away and out of reach if he truly felt in danger.

So why doesn’t he run away?  Chances are, this rabbit has established trust with his witch friend.  He certainly looks well fed – and perhaps the apple is going to be shared with him (instead of him being the main dish for lunch).  We certainly don’t see a cooking fire in the scene, so his worries seem to be leaning on the side of paranoia.

Traditionally, the Ace of Swords (Broomsticks in this deck) speaks of new ideas and beginnings.  The hallmark of this Ace is “strength in adversity.”  In other words, it means that out of something bad, something good emerges.  Perhaps once this rabbit realizes that he didn’t need to be afraid after all, he will enjoy sharing the apple with his witch friend and develop a stronger bond of trust with her.

This Ace gives us the ability to cut through all the layers and get to the truth and heart of a matter.  Understanding comes by cutting through confusion, illusion, fear, and peeling away the layers to find the core of the truth.  And this witch will be doing exactly that as she peels the apple.  She holds the knife, so she’s the one in control here – but contrary to the rabbit’s momentary fear, she will utilize that knife for constructive purposes.

A sword has a double blade, so we must think of both sides of an issue and weigh the pros and cons before we fully engage – or perhaps before we jump to conclusions.  There are always two sides to every story, and to take the first steady steps in any endeavor, we should be aware of both sides.  New beginnings may arise out of some kind of difficulty that you face this week.  Stay focused and determined, because the Ace of Broomsticks can take you to a welcome breakthrough in a situation.

If problems have hindered you from achieving a goal, this Ace energy indicates a time of finding solutions and solving problems through greater insight and education.  The experiences you are going through at this time (even the difficult ones) can make you wiser!

The Ace of Broomsticks also reminds us that there is opportunity in every challenge.  Facing a challenge with courage, honesty, and firm resolve is the best way.  The promise of this Ace is that you have the inner resources and strength needed to overcome any obstacles and to start anew.

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

6 of Wheels - Buckland Romani TarotSix of Bolers (Wheels/Pentacles)
This week, the concept of “giving and receiving” is a predominant theme to pay attention to.  You may be in the position of giver, where someone can benefit from you sharing with them.  It may be money, it might be a service, or it might simply be the sharing of your time.

On the other hand, you could be on the receiving end of this help or charity – so don’t be too proud to accept what is offered to you.  Everybody wins from this give and take situation.  Don’t deny the person who wants to help the right to feel good about providing assistance to you.  Those good feelings are a reward in themselves!

Perhaps you may work out an exchange of services with someone this week – providing something for them that they need in return for what you need, whether it’s monetary or otherwise.  Consider what you can spare this week and/or where you could be of help and service to those who need a helping hand.  Conversely, consider what you need but don’t yet have – and who it is that may be able to help fill in the missing gaps where you are lacking.

The Six of Wheels is about giving generously.  It’s not because you have to, it’s because you truly want to be of help to someone who needs your wisdom, time, or other assistance.  It’s about giving graciously, but also accepting graciously if you are on the receiving end of things.

Pride does not need to stand in the way!  I’m sure you’ve heard the concept of “pay it forward.”  Even if you are receiving help during this week, one day you will be in a position to pay it forward and help someone else without expectation of reward or payment.

If we all strive to “pay it forward” in some way, think of what a wonderful difference we can make in this world.  Together, we can touch lives through the simple act of giving and caring.

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

Queen of Wands - Witches TarotQueen of Wands
The Queen of Wands is an encouraging voice that is urging you to “go for it” this week.  There is something that is trying to take shape, and you are needed to mold and guide that with the enthusiasm it deserves.  What do you want to manifest?  Nurture it and bring it into reality!

It’s a great week for getting things done.  This doesn’t mean that everything will go your way of course.  But if obstacles come along, you have the power to work around them.  Choose your path and don’t be swayed by anything that might try to knock you off course from the destination.  This queen gives you the willpower and drive to succeed!

Step into your personal power with confidence.  You can make things happen through the week, but you’ll need to stay positive and in control.  Be the leader and set a “can do” tone with others who might be working with you or around you.

Wake up to your potential.  Even if life gets in the way sometimes – which it does indeed do! – don’t let your dreams die on a shelf.  This Queen within you will admonish you if you let go of what is important to you.  Trust yourself.  You can do it!

If you don’t feel that you have what it takes, and you need a bit of encouragement, don’t wait around for others to give you that when you can provide it for yourself.  Write yourself some positive notes of how good it feels to accomplish a dream and achieve mastery of a goal.  Write notes to yourself of how confident and able you really are.  Tell yourself every chance you get that you CAN do it!  Because you can!  Trust this Queen who is enticing you to bring out your best and go forth with full confidence in what can be achieved.

3 of Wands - Sacred Circle Tarot3 of Wands (Foundation)
The efforts you have been applying are starting to pay off!  Do you see it?  If so, congratulations – your ships are coming in!  If you don’t see it, perhaps you aren’t giving yourself the credit you deserve.

This is all about the chance to celebrate the initial successes of a project or an endeavor.  It’s not about “getting there” yet – at least not to the finish line; that will come later.  But there are still important accomplishments that deserve your attention in this very week!

There is still more work ahead, no doubt.  But don’t just focus on all that remains to be done.  Focus, too, on the foundations that have been laid up to this point.

Those foundations you are creating right now are very important to support what you’re doing and to carry your goal to the finish line. So don’t discount the preliminary jobs or the things that take a while to finish in the beginning.  They are critical for your ultimate success!

This week can be an exciting one as you find yourself stretched and challenged in a way that drives you toward achieving more than you thought would be possible.  Enjoy this productive time and make it work for you.

Many Blessings,
