Question from Vicky: “What changes are coming up in my family’s economic well-being?”

King of SwordsTower7 of Swords
King of Swords – The Tower – 7 of Swords

The Tower is one of those cards that forces us to sit up and take notice!  And while I sincerely wish I could tell you that a nice improvement is up ahead, it looks like things will get worse before they can settle down and get better.  It’s as if the slate needs to be completely wiped clean to allow you to create a fresh start in matters of economic concern.

The King of Swords is like your “ace in the hole,” Vicky!  This tells me that you will have some important decisions to make.  You will need to be strategic and look for what you are able to take control of in financial and economic matters.  With the 7 of Swords, this may involve some serious cutting out of things you don’t have to have – which can understandably make you feel “cheated.”  But this is very important, because the cards are showing us that you may have to cut your losses – and/or you will need to make some decisive cuts to work on improving the financial department of your life which will also impact your family as well.

For some people, the Tower in economics can signify a bankruptcy, or it may portray a serious debt consolidation.  At the very least, Vicky, with the King on board here, the cards are asking you to find ways to take control through some tough decisions – before things explode around you.  The Tower is an energy where it’s like the roof is about ready to blow on a situation.  It’s something that you really can see coming and can look for ways to mediate or circumvent as much as possible.  But if left ignored with just “hoping for the best,” things can fall apart – often prompting people to wonder what happened, when there were likely some signs along the way.

The sting can be greatly reduced if you make some tough decisions now to clear the path for a clean slate in whatever ways you can.  The King of Swords shows us that there are some things for which you can control and work on to alleviate some of the Tower’s upheaval.  Look for ways to create a fresh start, even though this can take some time to get through.  Good decisions now can spare you a lot of upset – even though such decisions may not be easy ones to make.

Wishing you all the best, and many blessings!!

This week’s question is from Danielle: “I have been saying for the last couple of years that I should write a humorous book about my divorce. I pick it up every now and then, but right now I’m going through a bit of writer’s block. I am wondering if I put in the effort to finish it, will I actually make any money off it? If not, maybe I won’t push so hard to finish it.”

Strength – 5 of Cups – 5 of Pentacles

More than anything else for this situation, I can see in the Strength card that writing this book has probably been a therapeutic experience for you, Danielle.  You’re getting something out of the writing, but it might not go in the direction you intended – at least in terms of making big profits from it.  So this book has value to you in ways that go beyond the realms of the material.  And if you are writing in a way that can help other divorced women get through that 5 of Cups pain and sense of loss . . . it’s something that actually can help some women find the goodness that still exists in their lives and move on to cross new bridges in their lives, as you have done.

However, when it comes to making money from your book, the 5 of Pentacles doesn’t indicate big profits coming your way for this effort, especially if you are a new writer.  If writing is something you are seriously interested in, however, that first book always needs to get written.

As you write this book, a lot of painful memories may also surface again.  The art of writing in itself can bring healing and closure.  And I rather like the humorous twist you are putting on a depressing situation – something to help you and others find that hope still exists, despite the challenges of a real life marriage and divorce story.

Decide who you are writing this book for.  Did you subconsciously start writing it as a project for yourself to find healing and closure?  Or were your original intentions to write a book with the purpose to earn money?  I don’t see much, if any, money coming from this particular project.  But I do see the therapeutic value it has if you decide to finish it.  Completing this book may be the kind of closure that you need to really get on with things in a way that you haven’t been able to do before.  Even though it probably won’t hit the best seller list if you publish it, there can be other enriching rewards that go with the completion – and the closure – involved in this particular writing.  If anything, do it for yourself more than anyone or anything else.

Best Wishes and Many Blessings!

This week’s question is from Jill: “I do believe in the law of attraction to some degree and feel that the energy of my life is directly correlated to the energy I give off. However I also believe that sometimes the Universe does for us what we cannot do for ourselves…and the lessons get more intense if we refuse to listen.  When something bad happens I try to look for the lesson…..or how my own thoughts may have contributed.  The past few weeks I have experienced the largest string of bad luck in my life….ranging from injury to heartbreak to monetary to just plain stressful inconvenience. And I just can’t figure out what the Universe is trying to tell me that I am not hearing.  My question would be something around what is the lesson and advice to alter the energy?”

Reversed Ace of Pentacles – 2 of Wands – Reversed 8 of Pentacles

In between two reversed Pentacles cards, the 2 of Wands is centered in this reading.  This shows us the need to find balance in a chaotic situation – a situation that seems to actually stem from work and financial issues that have needed attention on some level.   With the Reversed Ace of Pentacles, it’s almost as if the hand is taking away a gift or an opportunity that was there for you.  Consider if you may have missed an opportunity in the recent past that related to career and/or money matters.

It seems that the Universe has slowed you down to a grinding halt so that you can have a chance to gain a new perspective about your life – and to focus on what you need to be paying attention to . . . which isn’t always the same things as we WANT to pay attention to.  For example, some people are so busy focusing on their love lives, when it’s their career that is literally demanding some attention.  And when they don’t pay attention to what they are called upon to look at, things start falling apart to get their attention – sometimes in not-so-nice ways, as you are currently experiencing.

The 2 of Wands is asking you to use this downtime while you heal and recover to consider your next step and direction.  The surrounding Pentacle cards in reverse seem to ask you to look at details and/or opportunities you have either missed, overlooked, or perhaps disregarded as unimportant.  It can even suggest an opportunity may have been there, but you were either afraid to make a change, or you simply didn’t view it as a real opportunity to move forward on.

The Reversed 8 of Pentacles indicates that perhaps you needed to pay more attention to certain details that were overlooked.  It suggests that perhaps your talents are not being properly expressed, and now things are standing still so that you can take a good look at where you are versus where you really want to be.  Jill, it looks like you are being asked to explore your work/career direction.  It feels like that is what has been asking for your attention for awhile now, but perhaps you have focused elsewhere instead.  Now you have the chance, with this unfortunate down time, to make good use of this opportunity presented to consider your plans, goals, and direction that you really want.  Down time can be productive – even if it comes to us painfully.

Best Wishes and Many Blessings!

Each week, I pull a card from a random Tarot deck to bring us a message or piece of wisdom that we can think about or use in our lives on some level – if not now, we can refer back to it when it seems to be more fitting for us.  This is food for thought, and not drawn for any one particular person or situation.

For this week’s message, I have drawn from the beautiful Crystal Visions Tarot deck by Jennifer Galasso.

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

The Hanged Man
The Hanged Man represents a time of pausing, waiting, seeing things in a new light, and even making sacrifices.  It’s about having patience and waiting to see what develops.  During this time, you may feel like you’re in “limbo” as you try to understand things in a larger context.  Decisions may be suspended for a time while you let things unfold without interference . . . but sometimes it’s necessary to not try to push for answers or force an issue.  By trying to force changes, you can pretty much ensure that they will never happen — at least not successfully or with the results you intended.

Relax and let things happen instead of trying to make them happen.  Instead of fighting against the current, let it take you with the flow for a smoother transition.

Even if you feel “stuck” about something this week, the energy within this card involves making sacrifices so that you can get “unstuck.”  It involves changing directions or perspectives.  Sometimes this means that you have to just let go of something.  Either you have to release control over something or someone, or you have to let go of old beliefs and habits that have limited you or that have even sabotaged your best efforts.

The Hanged Man shows a willingness to release what is familiar in order to attain something new and better.  In doing so, you are at an important turning point and time of transition where you’re ready to grow.  In the meantime, you may need to wait for clear directions so that you don’t try to rush anything before it’s time . . . or so that you don’t interfere with something that needs to be handled by someone else.

A very important lesson which the Hanged Man teaches us is that we “control” by letting go . . . and we “win” by surrendering.  The best approach to a problem is not always the most obvious.  Sometimes we have to look at a situation from a whole new perspective and see things in a new light.  When we most want to force something to happen or make someone do what we want, that is when we should step back, release, and let go.  When we most want to have our own way, that is when we should sacrifice.  When we most want to act on something, that is when we should wait.  The irony is that by making these moves which are contradictory to what we think we want . . . we end up finding what we really need or what we’re looking for.

Your willing sacrifices now will bring to you something better later on . . . so hang in there . . . and look at your situations from a new perspective. Put off the big decisions for now.  Wait until the picture is clearer and you have the enlightenment to proceed.  Empower yourself with a brand new outlook!

Affirmation:  As I look at things from a new perspective this week, a whole new level of enlightenment and understanding is found.

Many Blessings!

Velvet Angel
