Each week, I pull a card from a random Tarot deck to bring us a message or piece of wisdom that we can think about or use in our lives on some level – if not now, we can refer back to it when it seems to be more fitting for us.  This is food for thought, and not drawn for any one particular person or situation.

For this week’s message, I have drawn from the Hallmark Tarot deck.

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

Seven of Wands
This week, there may be a confrontation of sorts that you will have to deal with.  This may be involve a challenge to who you are, what you stand for, or what beliefs and values you hold to.

Each person has his or her own path to take, and what’s right for you doesn’t have to be right for everyone else.  Don’t let anyone convince you to compromise your personal code of ethics by following the crowd or taking the easy way out.  Social pressure and peer pressure can certainly be a theme at this time, and although we usually hear about “peer pressure” in reference to teens, you can certainly know that this concept does not make its presence known only to teenagers.

Whatever confrontations you may encounter through this week, be assured that you are up to the challenge!  You hold a position of advantage that you may or may not be aware of at this time, and this advantage helps you to achieve success against opposing forces.  You can face adversity with courage, determination, and valor.  Be confident in your ability to see things through and overcome the situation in order to reach victory.

The Seven of Wands is known as the “card of valor” which signifies negotiations, competition, success in the face of confrontation, stamina, endurance, and determination to stand firm and assert your position on an issue.  Although this week itself may not bring the final and desired success that is being strived for, the Seven of Wands shows that things are developing nicely and that you are on the right track — even with the obstacles you are having to face and overcome.  This is a time of continued developments that can show new possibilities for future success.

This card often pertains to people with unique ideas, or those who have personal visions they are trying to put into practice.  Solving problems and finding better ways to do things are therefore important.  Sometimes your unique ideas are the very thing that creates conflict with others . . . because they may not agree with you.  Yet you know what you are doing, but may be in a position where you feel that you have to continually defend or justify your actions, plans, or ideas.

You have an opinion, and it’s time to put a voice to it!  Be firm but diplomatic to get people to listen to the value of your ideas . . . whether they accept them or not.  You may find yourself having to reach new levels of imagination and creativity to get your ideas accepted in the face of envious rivals.  But you’ve come this far . . . you might as well continue!  Don’t allow jealous rivals to deter you from your path.

The going may seem like an uphill battle at first, but whatever obstacles present themselves, the Seven of Wands indicates that things will turn around.  While the Seven of Wands doesn’t offer the immediate gratification of success, it does show that you are heading toward a successful direction if you hold firm to what you want and stand up for yourself.  This card shows that you are a survivor who can overcome struggles by drawing on your inner strength to finally pull through.  Always keep in mind that when times are hard, if you can just hang in there, you’ll win in the end!

Affirmation: I stand up for myself and for what is right . . . no matter what everyone else may say about it. I’m not afraid to voice my opinion.

Many Blessings,

Velvet Angel

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

Queen of Cups
The Queen of Cups shows us that there is a lot of love surrounding you this week.  Emotions may be especially important this week – and so will your intuition.  So pay attention to your feelings and intuitive responses.  Trust what those inner assets have to say.

Be open to your love of life and the people in it.  As this card can represent a mother or mother substitute, such a person might play a significant role in your life this week.  You might receive more messages and invitations than usual . . . and some of those can be very uplifting to you.  Your greatest success at this time will come through your ability to make a favorable impression on others, thus attracting gifts, favors, special consideration, or some kind of an advantage.

This is a time to empathize with others.  Think more with your heart at this time than your head.  Let the people that you love know how you feel.  Hug someone that you care about, for this is an energy of warmth, love, nurturing, and giving.  Home and family life may be especially important to you.  As this Queen often portrays a mother figure, your mother or a mother figure may play an important role in your life this week.  Or you may be taking care of children – either your own or the children of others . . . or perhaps you are already expecting a child or thinking about having a baby.  If you are going to be a new mother, this Queen assures you that you can do a very fine job with motherhood.  At this time, home conditions and family matters will likely be agreeable and bring you fulfillment and contentment.

Speaking of motherhood which the Queen of Cups so aptly portrays, if you are a new mom or are going to be one, and you wish there was a manual that came with kids . . . check out The Tarot Lady’s program:  Tarot For Brand New Moms.  This is unique and original – not anything I’ve ever seen done before in the world of Tarot!

And why does Tarot and Motherhood really go so well together?  Read the interview that Theresa (The Tarot Lady) did with Tarot Reader, Brigit (also known as Biddy).

Your environment at this time may be one in which you can, or at least should, feel nourished in some way — even if some of that comes from within yourself.  With this card, you are encouraged to seek out the loving things inside yourself.  Search for your own real beauty.  Identify the things within yourself that you are glad to have as a part of you.  Find things about yourself which are beautiful and that you love.

An important aspect of the Queen of Cups is her ability to let us reach inside and see things from a different perspective.  She wants each and every one of us to be in love with and satisfied with ourselves.  And when we do feel this way about ourselves, we can shine a little brighter for the rest of the word and share that loving energy.  Everybody wins!

Here’s wishing you a love-filled week with lots of warmth to receive and share with others!

Many Blessings!

This Week’s Wisdom Message . . .

Ten of Swords
Let me be completely honest here.  There is no way to get around the Ten of Swords’ harsh energy.  We cannot sugar coat its meaning, nor should we try.  We need to just face it head on, even if it’s one of those painful situations that make us say, “Ouch!!”

Numerically this card is a Ten, signifying that the end of something is at hand.  In this case, it can suggest that you have gone through something painful, or that you may experience an upset during this week, but it is also a temporary energy that asks you to pull those proverbial swords out of your back and be willing to start a new and better cycle.

I’ve gotta say, this energy hits close to home for me this week.  You’ve heard the old saying were someone gets “stabbed in the back.”  And that’s what this energy is all about – not something literal, but a figure of speech.  You may be betrayed, deceived, cheated, lied to, or talked unfairly about behind your back – or even boldly to your face!  But just know that this ending – whether the ending of a friendship, a job, a relationship, or something else – is actually best for you.

It’s time to pick yourself up, no matter how much something or someone has hurt you . . . and just move on.  There is the dawn of new hope that is shown to us in the skies of this card.  Tomorrow can be a better day, but you’ve got to work on making that true.  Swords is a mental energy, so whatever attitudes you adopt about a difficult situation is going to be important to help you put this ugly energy behind you and just move on.

Yes, it hurts when someone betrays you or proverbially “stabs you in the back.”  But such an act tells you a lot about that person – and whether you need to let go of the negativity that someone like this brings into your life.  Let the ending take place, and don’t try to hang on to this.  Put an ending to something if you find the need to do so.  Cut out the conflicts in your life that are simply not necessary.  Cut the ties to the situations and people that hurt you or needlessly put you down.

When you feel that you’ve reached the lowest point possible with regard to something, the good news is that the only logical place to go next . . . is up!  Keep that thought in mind this week if you feel as if life is breaking you down!  Usually the last shoe has indeed dropped when you see this painful card, and once you get through cleaning up the mess of the situation – or healing from the trauma – you can definitely expect a turn for the better.

Something is ending, but whatever this is, it’s something for which the time has come for it to end.  You’ve seen the signs, or you will see them through this 10 of Swords’ bitter energy.  Let it go now.

You may be going through a serious revision of your ideas and beliefs as you come to understand reality in a different way than you had been.  You may be learning the truth of a very bittersweet lesson on something that is now in ruins, but that you had very high hopes for.  You may see how you have been making bad choices, possibly based on serious misunderstandings or trusting the wrong people.

You may be confronted with a major shift in plans that you hadn’t anticipated . . . or at least didn’t want to see as a possibility in your line of reasoning earlier on.  This energy can force you to confront a bitter loss or disappointment, and it naturally brings stress and unhappiness with it.  There can be a lot of anguish when you feel like your world is collapsing around you.  Although the endings here also signify a time of starting over, it can still be hard to cope with whatever major adjustment this brings into your life.

Watch your moods, feelings, and attitudes this week.  It may be easy for depression to creep up, so try to hang in there until this energy passes and things start looking up again.  Something of the past may be lost — a way of life, a job, a relationship, friendship, etc. — but whatever it is, it won’t do any good to try to keep clinging to it.  Be willing to release and let go when necessary, because the more you try to hang on, the more it hurts.

Affirmation:  Difficult energies clear the way for better tomorrows, and as I let go of this conflict, I look forward to living my life’s purpose more fully.

Many Blessings!
